AmberSat IP
PDF Print E-mail

AmberSat IP supports data, internet access, telephony and video communications with higher quality and flexibility of use. AmberSat IP is the best satellite communications solution for customer with IP networking requirements and is used today by highly demanding customers in many business segments, including: oil & gas, agribusiness, mining, Government and armed forces.

AmberSat IP’s superior service derives from three main features:

  • Guaranteed Quality of Service (QoS)
  • Prioritization of critical and time-sensitive applications such as interactive data and voice
  • Optimization of transmission protocols in order to reduce response times and to minimize the impact of satellite transmission delays
  • Specialized technical assistance 24 x 7

AmberSat IP – One service for multiple applications

AmberSat IP ensures a perfect integration of voice, data, internet and video applications over a shared channel. Transmission bandwidth is dynamically allocated, according to the bandwidth required for each service and to prioritization and QoS rules. This approach optimizes network capacity usage and optimizes response times, resulting in lower costs and improved performance.

AmberSat IP’s main applications are:

  • Internet access: web browsing, e-mail, e-commerce, etc
  • Corporate data networks: LAN interconnection, intranet, SAP,electronic mail, ERP, data bases, terminal emulation, financial transactions, VPN
  • Voice: Public telephony, VoIP, corporate voice networks
  • Multimedia: Interactive distance learning, digital video transmissions, corporate TV, videoconferencing and digital audio multicasting

AmberSat IP – The best Quality of Service in the market

AmberSat IP provides superior voice quality due to its unique VoIP packet routing and prioritization algorithms, which ensure better speech quality and the shortest possible transmission delays.

Users of on-line data services also prefer AmberSat IP for two main reasons.  First, data communications protocols are optimized for satellite transmission in order to reduce the impact of propagation delays on customer response times. Second, AmberSat IP prioritizes the transmission of mission critical IP packets, according to customized prioritization policies set up by each individual customer. The result of the combination of these two features is that off-line and lower priority applications give way to mission-critical and time-sensitive applications, providing end users with much faster response times.

AmberSat IP’s main benefits are:

  • Service configuration is adjusted, according to each customer’s specific needs: you can start at a lower traffic profile and evolve to higher profiles, according to the demands of your business
  • Supports multiple applications: voice, data, internet and video with guaranteed Quality of Service:
    • Better voice quality
    • Better response times, due to the prioritization of mission-critical and time-sensitive applications and to satellite transmission protocol optimization
  • Full Brazilian domestic coverage, with international agreements for coverage extension to other parts of the World
  • Operates with several antenna models: fixed, transportable or stabilized maritime antennas
  • Help Desk and Field Service Support available 24 hours a day, 7 days per week
  • Equipment inventory available for quick delivery in Brazil

AmberSat IP – How it works

AmberSat IP uses iDirect’s TDMA VSAT platform. This platform was conceived and developed to provide advanced IP satellite communications, differently from other market solutions that result from adaptations of non-IP legacy systems to the new IP environment.

This is the reason why AmberSat IP service can guarantee all the flexibility and features supported by integrated IP communications. High quality voice, broadband internet, corporate data networks and video  streaming are examples of applications that are supported with superior quality, under the security standards required by  corporate customers.

The network’s central station is known as the hub station and is located at  either the C.FOSTER teleport in Rio de Janeiro or at a major teleport in the USA. The remote sites use VSAT terminals, composed of a small antenna and a satellite terminal that includes an IP router.

The transmission channel from the hub station to the remote sites is called downstream and operates at shared multiple Mbit/s speeds. Return channels, from remote sites to the hub, are called upstreams and run at shared kbit/s speeds.

The service operates according the CIR (committed information rate) concept. The CIR is measured in kbit/s and corresponds to the minimum bandwidth guaranteed to the customer. The customer pays only for the CIR, but its speed may burst above the CIR according to the occupation of the IPsys platform at a given point in time.

C.FOSTER designs networks in close consultation with its customers, in order to fulfill the company’s present and future requirements. Service networks can be easily reconfigured to support new applications or new sites. Downstream and upstream channel band-width configurations are also quick and simple and can be performed remotely with simple hub station software commands, eliminating the need of traveling to the remote sites.

The VSAT system is proactively managed by a trained team. Potential faults can be detected in advance, avoiding service unavailability. Emergency field support services are available any day at any time (24x7).
